Abstract

Child socialization settings as well and the way they articulate to form daily and weekly routines, play an outstanding role in children’s development. In order to know the organization and diversity of Portuguese four-year-olds’ socialisation settings, a survey was conducted in a nationally representative sample, within the scope of a larger international project. 581 four-year old children and their families participated in this study: 298 were boys and 283 were girls. A face-to-face interview at the family home was used  to collect data. Results characterised children’s weekly and daily routines, as well as the settings they attended and their main features.
