The Counselling and Psychotherapy (Adults) Open Community Centre of the FPCEUL (12 years of service): Characterization, Users' Profiles and Outcomes

The present study sketches a characterization of the Counselling and Psychotherapy Open Community Centre of the FPCEUL in terms of the clinical services provided to adults, as well as the profiles of users and results of the interventions between 1990 and 2002. The vast majority of users are Portuguese citizens (87,3%), female (76,5%), ages between 20 and 25 years (29,6%), single (56,6%), attending college (37,1%), referenced by staff or by Psychology and Education students (30,7%), with an initial complaint of a depressive nature (31,3%), showing comorbirdity of Axis I and II (57,2%), with between 6 and 10 therapy sessions (25,1%), and that, again the vast majority, reported, at the end of treatment, significant improvement (82,5%). The authors end by drawing a number of conclusions, based on the results.
