The authors proceed to a multidimensional analysis of the matrix of socio-professional relationships of Portuguese psychologists, by means of both Smallest Space Analysis and Factorial Correspondencies Analysis techniques. The subjects were 217 psychologists, divided in professional fields upon the American Psychological Association classification grid. The SSA revealed five main clusters of inter-professional contacts, and the FCA provided three factors accounting for 87.8% of the total variance, which allowed the distinction between a social-organizational group vs. clinical-educational group (factor I), counseling psychologist (factor II) and adult-oriented vs. children-oriented practitioners (factor III). The classification rested on the professional contacts of psychologists with other professionals.
