Abstract

The author compared the perinatal attitudes and levels of anxiety of two groups of primiparae: an experimental group of 28 cesarean birth women and a control group of 27 normal deliverance women. The author’s results suggest differences between groups in attitudes and anxieties during pregnancy (concerning the self and the fetus) and the childbirth but no differences were found in relation towards becoming pregnant, the post-partum or the latter post-partum period. The implications of those results to child-mother attachment are discussed.
