Abstract

Following the new concept frame proposed by Locke and Latham (1990), this paper has considered the moderating roles of task complexity and feedback specificity in the goals/performance relationship. The results obtained confirmed the prejudicial effects of goal setting in complex tasks. In spite of having registered a need for greater feedback specificity in complex tasks, it was not possible to get empirical support for the feedback specificity law.
