Abstract

How can we relate violence with the representation of violence? The reality of violence is an accomplice to violence’s own representation through the media. It is a case of a market of images with competitive supplies and demands, ruled by communication strategies. The pitfall of any positive definition lies on the exclusion of those normative significations which form the network through which violence cannot aim at objectivity, by placing itself above evaluation, since it contains evaluation within itself. That definition is an evaluation inside the conflict of evaluations. In modern societies conflicts the «battle for images» as much as the «battle for (in) production» takes a key position in the strategies of power.
