This article draws the reader’s attention to the scarceness of psycho-social and cultural studies of the young people in Portugal. Their lack of knowledge in these fields – according to the author of the article – greatly affects the assertion of adequate policy measures to be taken aiming at the young peoples’ social integration. The present situation of them is characterized in this article based on demographic data, their shares of employment and their educational levels, all while comparing them with those of other European countries. The article presents outlooks for possible prospects on the educational field and professional training as well as policy measures, as well as cultural policy so as to facilitate their way into professional and social integration.
