The center of affective power in the system of family relationships is defined. A method based on graph and matrix theory is developed which allows determining the power of each individual in his family group. This method is then used to analyze the data collected by an inquiry to the members of two groups of families – those with and those without an identified schizophrenic patient. The basis hypothesis guiding the research was that by comparing families with and without an identified schizophrenic patient, the first ones would have the center of affective power mainly occupied either by the mother, another member of the family or wouldn’t exist at all; while in the second ones the center of affective power would be occupied by the father or the co-participative couple (...)
