Abstract

The author attempts an evaluation of suicide motivations in several cultural backgrounds. After an analysis of the general coordinates of suicide all over the world, its specific rules are scrutinized in some traditional cultures as well as in some historical societies, and correlated with the prominence of existing «codes of honour».
