Abstract

In the first part of the paper, we tried to put the problem of myths, secrets and family rituals in a wider context than therapy itself. At the same time we studied this theme while «secretion» (A. Zempléni) in the context of family communication. In the second part, we deal with the concepts of secret, myth and ritual under a systemic point of view. For a better understanding, the author uses examples taken from works of Ausloos, Ferreira, Selvini and Bowen. The theoretical work is illustrated with two examples. Considering the institutional therapeutic failure and the success of a seer, the first one tries to explain this success as a «positive connotation» of the symptom, taken as «secretion» of the family myth. The second one exemplifies the systemic use of rituals in family therapy.
