Abstract

The author tries to introduce a cognitive analysis of the praxis system which is present in the understanding and performance of expertise, not only in sports, as well as, in medicine, in driving means of transport, in performance acts, in laboratory skills, in chess, writing, and decision making. Within this context the author reflects on the cognitive process that mediates outstanding performance in very diverse areas of expertise, exploring some psycholofical subprocess like: mental stimulation, motivational regulation, psychosomatic sintonization, motor planning, and finally, psychomotor inhibition, with the goal of identifying characteristics of expert performance. With that processes in mind he recommends a mental training program that could offer long-lasting beneficial influences in the psychomotor modifiability of the individuals involved in the refinement of any form of expertise.
