Estereótipos sociais: Definição e abordagens

Abstract

A definition of social stereotype is presented. We analyse its major features and functions and establish the relation between social and psychological functions. The major theoretical views of the concept are also presented. Among the methodological views, special attention is given to the descriptive study of Katz and Braly, which was pioneer of a serial of other descriptive studies of social stereotypes.
