Anchoring process and social representations of intelligence

Investigated the dynamics of social representations. In varying the contexts in which the concept of intelligence is evoked, this study attempted to show that different communication settings lead to the formation of different representations of intelligence. Moreover, the results suggest that the representations which are formed in social comparison situations are anchored both in the thought system of the group with which individuals identify, and in the dimensions perceived as relevant to intergroup differentiation.
