Abstract

This paper describes goals, instruments, and methodology of a research project that had as its main aim diagnosing and characterizing the variables related to academic adjustment and self-regulating processes of 420 students in the common 1st year of science and engineering programs at the University of Aveiro. For these purposes, 3 instruments were constructed and/or adapted. The results evidence a close link between personal, interpersonal, and institutional dimensions taken into consideration in the academic and self-regulating academic processes. The results also show some significant differences on the dimensions and variables under analysis.
