Abstract

The present paper is based on a conference given at “Livraria Barata” for the “Encontros com a Psicologia”, organized by the “Associação Portuguesa de Psicologia”. Three related themes are addressed: (1) global and comparative efficacy of psychotherapy; (2) effectiveness of psychotherapy (in Portugal); and (3) characteristics of Portuguese psychotherapists. These last two themes are based on empirical studies conducted in Portugal.
