Abstract

The current trend of magnifying of the number of people in the age group above of 60 years, known phenomenon as population aging, comes transforming the profile of the Brazilian families. Generally, the aged ones were seen as dependent beings, but, in recent years, this trend is if changing and a new reality is emerging. To understand the changes that are accuring within families and its relationship with aging population, some variables that were part of a qualitative search were analysed and are now brought for discussion in this article.
