Abstract

Based on the socio?cognitive theory of Bandura (1995), the aim of the present research was to study the relation between self?efficacy beliefs in the transition to work and perceived social support of college students. The sample was constituted by 221 participants. The instruments used were the Scale of Self?efficacy in the Transition to Work (Vieira & Coimbra, 2005) and the Social Support Scale (Vaux et al., 1986; adapted version by Antunes & Fontaine, 1994/5). The results revealed a positive and significant relation between self?efficacy beliefs and perceived social support, especially regarding perceived social support from friends and general others.
